Here are 10 photos (out of 22) from my series Racial Microaggressions. I have asked my friends on the Fordham University Lincoln Center campus to write down an instance of racial microaggression they have faced on a poster for me to take a picture of them.
When I went on holiday to Turkey because it’s a whole different ethnic group who were interested in my hair texture and ethnicity of course they will ask questions. They didn’t seem ignorant or rude to me, just curious. But in the UK or the US I just know for a fact people who ask them are either daft, sound bad when asking or are actually rude about it. I don’t think there is anything wrong with being curious just not categorizing people or being horrible about it. “You’re so pretty for a dark skin girl” that’s just ugly to me on it’s own even with pretty included in the damn sentence.
